Activations Enable Engagement
Our Design Thinking Model empowers the community by centering on Blackness.
Year-round Activations will enable our Collectives to engage with the Black community. The Activations are cause related campaigns that will highlight success, uplift the oppressed and build up the Black community - increasing social capital. We invite you to join our Collective as a Black Creator!
Campaigns
Celebrate Blackness
Campaigns are Activations that drive social capital to the Black community by engaging changemakers with opportunities to take a stand. For example, campaigns can be related to social justice, voter suppression, gentrification, homelessness, literacy, climate change and gender equity. Campaigns empower the community by highlighting the successes of members of our Black community.
Experiences
Elevate Blackness
Experiences are Activations that drive human capital to the Black community by engaging changemakers with opportunities to leverage their professional talents and skills. For example, experiences can be volunteering, mentoring, training, coaching, internships, apprenticeships and fellowships, to name a few. Experiences that leverage human resources cultivate partnerships.
Ventures
Uplift Blackness
Ventures are Activations that drive resource capital to the Black community by engaging changemakers with opportunities to leverage their assets and elevate market shares potential. For example, leveraging office space, software, shipping containers, balance sheet, shelf space, store/retail space, motor vehicles, and equipment to name a few.
Projects
Unleash Blackness
Projects are Activations that drive financial capital to the Black community by engaging changemakers with opportunities to leverage their funds. For example, grants, donations, investments, impact bonds, loans, crowdfunding, and SPACS.
Recent Activation Experience
We are excited to share with you a recent Activation Experience. In June 2022, we partnered with 48in48, a nonprofit that connects nonprofits and skilled marketing and technology professionals to create new professional websites during hackathon-style events. The social justice build event is proven to be impactful for volunteers, nonprofits and sponsors. The virtual event offered our team an opportunity to help the nonprofit sector by building new websites that will increase their market audience.
The social justice event marks (x)Black's soft launch, which provides us with a new website and the opportunity to invite some amazing social justice changemakers to speak with us.
The 48in48 (x)Black partnership has provided skills-based volunteers to build our website. This is a great example of the type of human capital experiences we want to cultivate for the rest of the Black community. Our next step is to launch the Atlanta (x)Black summit this Fall, to convene Black Creators and Changemakers to discuss ways we can empower the local Black community.
